To the World by Kanye West
“To the World” from the “Cruel Summer” album (2012) is that sort of triumphant, raise-your-glass kind of track, isn’t it? Kanye and R. Kelly come together and it’s like this celebratory anthem for the doubters, the haters, and everyone in between. R. Kelly’s smooth vocals on the chorus give it this majestic, uplifting feel, while Kanye comes in with those confident, boastful verses that he’s known for. There’s this cool dichotomy between R. Kelly’s more melodic, smooth delivery and Kanye’s harder, assertive rap verses which makes it super replayable. The track is basically a toast ‘to the world’ and all its criticisms and hardships – but it’s a toast that’s confident, a little bit cheeky, and entirely unapologetic.
