“Agent Orange” by Kamalata

Kamalata uses the term ‘Agent Orange’ to describe and address a certain group of dangerous politicians. These are politicians who are directly and indirectly involved in certain wars and atrocities that have taken place.

The singer uses a lot of imagery to depict how people in authority benefit from tragic events that affect ordinary citizens. The writer talks about how these politicians and propagandists organize high class parties to tell framed stories while recounting their ‘victories’ which are actually criminal deeds. It discusses how they spread falsehood and kill innocent people. And as if that isn’t enough, they go on to take the glory as though they have done good.

In the subsequent verses of the song, the writer recalls the tragic bombing of Japanese cities Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the United States. The narrator goes on to encourage the listener to never forget these incidents. In conclusion, the narrator calls for justice for all the innocent civilians who die as a result of these events.

“Agent Orange” Facts

The song was actually inspired by the United States’ use of the harmful chemical known as “Agent Orange” on its enemies during war.

The most-notable 20th century usage of this chemical was perpetrated during the Vietnam War. This powerful chemical compound has been estimated, by some, to have adversely affected as many as three million people in Vietnam. In addition to that, it caused environmental damage to just as many hectares of land. And it was not only the Vietnamese that suffered its consequences, some American soldiers also did.

After witnessing the harmful affects of this chemical, the United Nations took actions against its usage. The UN more or less banned the usage of herbicide-based weapons in warfare.

Kamalata officially release “Agent Orange” in July of 2016. It appears on her “Red Lips” album of 2016.
