“The Next Right Thing” by Kristen Bell
Kristen Bell’s “The Next Right Thing” is a song from the Disney animated film “Frozen 2”. And unlike many of the other tracks featured on that project, this is one that can actually be applied to the real world as opposed to be confined to a fictional universe.
In the song, Kristen is actually taken on the role of Anna, a character from the film. But as alluded to earlier, the philosophy contained therein is one that the singer actually practices in real life.
Without giving too much of the movie’s plot away, this song is featured during a pivotal scene where Anna is stricken by a major dilemma which has sucked away her will to live. Or put differently, she is severely depressed. But once again going back to the philosophy behind the lyrics, she decides to do “the next right thing”. Or another way of looking at it is that she’s going take her recovery step-by-step. Indeed ‘looking too far ahead’ in terms of her future can cause her to have a breakdown. And each step requires her to simply do what she deems to be “the next right thing”, regardless of how minuscule or insignificant the act may seem.

This song was created by the team that worked on most of the “Frozen 2” soundtrack. R. Lopez and K. A. Lopez serve as both co-writers and co-producers. And the other producers are T. MacDougall and D. Metzger.
