Banks
Banks is a singer and poet who grew up in a part of California called Tarzana. Her parents divorced when she was in her teens. In terms of her music career this event actually proved to be a positive, as a friend gifted her a keyboard – which she taught herself how to play – as a result. Moreover during her mid-teens Banks began writing songs. Also interesting to note concerning her earlier is that she earned degree in psychology from USC.
However, it was also during her college years that her music career began to takeoff. She hooked up with a musician called Yung Skeeter who then connected her to a record label. And within a short time a track she posted onto SoundCloud entitled “Before I Ever Met You” was being aired by DJ Zane Lowe himself.
Banks went on to also drop a couple of EPs in 2013, and the following year her debut album, “Goddess”, came out. This proved to be a worthy affair as said project charted in nearly 15 countries in addition to being certified gold in the United States. And her second and third albums, which were respectively issued in 2016 and 2019, fared similarly.
