At first glance, or rather, the first listen, ‘Positif’ by Mr. Oizo comes across as an electronic cascade devoid of conventional lyrical depth. However, Quentin Dupieux, the French mastermind behind the moniker Mr. Oizo, has crafted a track that sinks its teeth into the psyche of a generation swaying between reckless abandon and existential dread.

When French musician and filmmaker Mr Oizo (pronounced ‘Monsieur Oiseau’, which means ‘Mr. Bird’ in French), released ‘Flat Beat’ in 1999, the track quickly reverberated through the airwaves, pounding the ears and minds of an entire generation with its audacious bass lines and stripped-down simplicity.
