Falling in Reverse’s “Zombified” Lyrics Meaning

Falling in Reverse’s “Zombified” is a song with pretty straightforward lyrics, though the first verse, bucking the norm, is a bit deep. Within the passage, the vocalist uses the term “monsters” to point to ‘the voices in our head’. He further goes on to assert that it is our own respective ways of thinking, if you will, that have made us “zombified” or akin to “the walking dead”.

The above proclamations give the impression that the rest of the song to follow will be based on a similar theme, i.e. mass mental issues or what have you. But that does not prove to be the case.

Instead, from the pre-chorus going, it is made clearer that what this piece is actually centered on is cancel culture. And Ronnie Radke’s gripe with contemporary American society is that someone could have said something stupid like a decade ago. But if said statement suddenly comes to light, even so many years later, still cancel culture adherents will come for his or her head.

So in a roundabout way, what the vocalist is actually putting forth in that regard is that American society needs to be more forgiving.

Cancel Culture stupefies the People?

And as far as the allusions to mental health and the powers-that-be’s ambition to ‘zombify’ us and so forth, it seems that what Falling in Reverse is actually trying to put forth is this.

In this song, cancel culture is being presented as a tool of the conspiratorial elite. This group is using it, most simply put, to stupefy or ‘hypnotize’ us. So Radke is insinuating that being encouraged to get irate over a statement someone as non-threatening as a celebrity or even a normal person has made is distracting us from the more-pressing issues of the day.

Or in an attempt to simplify the overarching sentiment even further, let’s say that the government/media is presented as intentionally making us more docile in the name of also making us easier to control.

Is justice for the victim to decide?

    • GoldDustWoman1111 says:

      Yes. I think so.

      • TryHard Developer says:

Obviously not justice for the victim to decide, that’s why it is VOTED on by a jury. When we lose democracy, we lose America.

And it’s happening right in front of our face! They tried to get juicy Smalley off and then tried to say Ryan Rittenhouse was racist when in both cases it was the opposite of what the media and even Biden was pushing for!

the democrats are blinded by the government, and their lies.

it has nothing to do with politics oml that’s all anyone cares about anymore🤦🏽‍♀️ i’m a trump supporter but even i hate a person that blames everything on politics. the song is about people who cancel others for stupid stuff, or cancels them to make them stay quiet about their own mind. cancel culture is literally taking away our right to freedom of speech. but cancel culture isn’t just done by democrats! republicans do it and so does independent ppl.

I think it is more about covid and vaccines. That was my take on it.

  3. Joeq Xiden says:

This song is right on! Cancel culture is the elites tool to try and control what you can or cannot think say or do.

    • anon says:

no it’s not. “cancel culture” is just holding people accountable for their actions and words, at least that is what it was started as. and as much as the right screams about left cancel culture they are far worse as they aren’t even trying to hold people accountable, they use it for things they do not like, like disney making a movie about girls going through puberty for example.

The right constantly talks about consequences of actions, but then b–ches moan about people getting “Canceled” … make it make sense.

  4. Clair Wintermyer says:

We have a social media group where I’m from and they talk b—h about people they don’t agree with and if you reply on their site and if they don’t like it or disagree with them they delete it from their post. The bad thing about it, the jacka–’s that follow that site believe their BS! Ronnie is absolutely right, they’re ZOMBIFIED!

  5. annon says:

all “cancel culture” is is holding people accountable for their actions and words. literally all it is. maybe he shouldn’t be a pedo with a platform like he has.

    • ShartinJoeMcdoody says:

I agree with this song. Cancel culture is hypnotizing us, making us all believe the same thing, and if we don’t, then our voices need not be heard. That is why Trump was taken off of Twitter because he had a different view. The media is truly trying to make us into mindless sheep. I was excited about this song because it finally has the right mentality.

    • A Normal Person says:

Maybe “cancel culture” should’ve a bunch of whiny little bi–hes. Grow up and be an adult.

this song sounds like garbage and his take is garbage.

The right always wants “responsibility” and “consequences” but then can’t stand “Cancel culture”? What is “Cancel culture” if not ramifications for poor decisions?

    • CC says:

Cancel culture is not about holding people responsible for their actions, it’s about trying to cancel those who don’t think the way you want. It’s about control. It’s a bunch of crybabies that want everything to be their way, they don’t like being shown the real world.

      • Anonymous says:

yea thats not what cancel culture is. it is 100% keeping people accountable for their actions. just because you make poor decisions and fear being held accountable for them you might want to rethink what you do. that accountability culture.

  8. Mephestopheles says:

There seems to be some confusion on what is “cancel culture” . No, cancelling some one is not making people “accountable”. Cancelling someone is to strip them of any means to communicate their point of view, to silence them, even erase their very (online) existence.
It is refreshing for a vocal artist to tackle this sensitive subject while rabid lefties seethe and the bulk of America become …… Zombified!!

The people whining about cancel culture always struggle to give examples voluminous enough to warrant being considered a culture, and the examples they do give are usually celebrities who are still wealthy and who have a massive platform to continue to express the views that they were “cancelled” for. It’s kind of pathetic, really.

i think that you should all shut the f— up and just appreciate the song

The way the comments serve as a physical proof of the very point the song is trying to convey.

  12. real thinker says:

hm. I believe this songs refers to the lack of freedom of speech and control of media. We know elites control the media. They wiped Donald Trump, the president of America, off all his platforms of media. Thats a big enough example of how potent they are. With that, they can control what is put and deleted from the media. They can hide stuff and bring stuff to the front page anytime. Issue like the covid vaccines, racism etc has all been administered and only a few of us has seen how this world really is f—-d up. Covid vaccines ‘safe and effective’. Right? How come actors and celebrities are dropping like flies? Who does the media say is to blame? Covid or the vaccine? If you rummage through statistics there is a dramatic difference in deaths of unvaccinated and vaccinated. Those vaccinated have an extremely higher rate of dying from excess deaths than unvaccinated dying from covid. But, you know “save the grandmas”.

  13. Eric says:

Cancer culture is all of you wasting your time canceling out each other’s opinions arguing about what “cancer” culture is. Hoe can u sift through the truth and the money hungry cancel vultures hover for another victim. The sad thing is that both innocents get judged guilty and guilty quiver through the cracks and that will NEVER change. Not at the rate of these comments that’s for damn sure.
