“Feel My Rhythm” by Red Velvet
This song (“Feel My Rhythm”), as well as the overall project it is a part of, has been inspired by the onset of Spring. Said season officially commenced in the Northern Hemisphere, which South Korea is a part of, on March 21st, i.e. the same day this track was dropped.
The reason the coming of Spring is traditionally seen as a cause of celebration is because, with Winter now coming to an end, this is the time of year that flowers start to bloom and all types of stuff like that. And likewise the lyrics of this piece are very upbeat, with the vocalist being enraptured in “a crazy night” she is enjoying with her “bae”.
South Korean artists aren’t as big on propagating romance as their Western counterparts, so said “bae” can theoretically be interpreted as the vocalist’s homeys besides or in addition to a romantic interest. In any event, the lyrics of the second verse are a lot more extra-dimensional, i.e. metaphorical, than the first. But the chorus solidly verifies that “Feel My Rhythm” is in fact a call to celebration or more simply put a dance song. And as implied by the title, it is Red Velvet who is taking the lead in getting the party jumping, so to speak.

Facts about “Feel My Rhythm”
This piece is the lead single from a six-track EP Red Velvet put out on 21 March 2022 entitled “The ReVe Festival 2022 – Feel My Rhythm”. And this project was of course brought to us by South Korea’s SM Entertainment, the same company that’s been backing the girl band since day one.
Readers who are hardcore classical music buffs may recognize March 21st as being the birthday of legendary German composer Johann Sebastian Bach (as based on the Julian calendar), who was born in 1685. And reportedly such is the reason why Red Velvet opted to drop this track/EP on said date, as “Feel My Rhythm” samples “Air on the G String“, one of Bach’s most-famous works.
This single, as to be expected considering the artists’ concurrent popularity, promptly proceeded to perform impressively on South Korea’s music charts, on top of the EP proving to be a commercial hit.
The author of this song is Seo Ji-eum, who is down with a South Korea-based, international songwriting outfit known as Jam Factory. And the production team behind “Feel My Rhythm” consists of:
- Andreas Öberg
- Maria Marcus
- MCK
- Jake K
The latter two are part of a crew known as Artiffect Music.
