“Hey Boy” by Sia

Sia’s “Hey Boy” features the singer basically desiring a one-night stand with the addressee. That would be the titular “boy”. And as the rest of the title indicates, she is shouting him out. And the reason Sia is doing so is because, once again, she desires to spend the night with him. The songstress presents herself as a single lady with needs. Or rather let’s say desires, and said longings are centered on the addressee. So basically she is telling him to capitulate or look out.

This song is from the soundtrack of a musical simply entitled Music. Sia is the director and co-writer of that film. And she also co-wrote “Hey Boy”, with the other authors being Kamille and the track’s producer, Jesse Shatkin.

Atlantic Records and Monkey Puzzle Music issued this song on 19 November 2020. It is the third single from the aforementioned Music soundtrack.

Does it have to be a one-night-stand? I take it more as she decides to find love that specific night, not that she only want one single night, when she sing “am I going to be single all my life?” sounds to me like she’s basically had enough of being single.
