Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door by Guns N’ Roses

Oh man, “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” is a beast of its own, ain’t it? GNR dropped this cover on their “Use Your Illusion II” album in 1991 and it’s like, their take is so raw and emotional. Originally it’s a Bob Dylan track from 1973, but GNR put their own spin on it with Axl’s iconic voice and Slash’s killer guitar playing.

It’s a tune about death and it got a good amount of radio play and is often highlighted as a pivotal moment in their discography. Axl, Slash, and the crew brought something fresh to an old classic, and they really made it their own, y’know? I think it’s still a staple in their live shows and always gets the crowd roaring. Bob Dylan’s original version is gentle and reflective, while GNR turned it into a powerful, epic anthem which is a serious vibe.
