Meaning of “Casper” by Takeoff
“Casper” is an ode to Takeoff’s Rolls Royce Wraith, an extremely-expensive car that was gifted to him by his record label’s co-founder, Pierre Thomas. In the track, Takeoff brags of his proficiency in attracting women due to the strength of his vehicle. Consequently, he advises other males to be on the lookout for him potentially picking up their date.
He also speaks on the effect the Wraith has on other spectators, such as its ability to awe-strike police and put competitors to shame. Thus he mockingly compares himself to Casper, a famous-cartoon ghost, since he’s catching mad wreck in his “Wraith”.
The Rolls Royce Wraith gifted to Takeoff by Quality Control (Takeoff’s label), not only appears in the lyrics of the song but it also appears in the song’s music video. The luxury car in question was given to him in honor of his 24th birthday as a birthday present. Takeoff turned 24 on June 18, 2018.
Below is a clip of Takeoff being presented with the luxury car:
At first Takeoff appears not to know exactly what is going on. However, when he realizes what is unfolding before his eyes, joy overtakes him. The video was first posted on Pierre’s Instagram account.
