“Whatever Didi Wants” by NOFX
The logical assumption would be that the titular Didi, who is also the addressee of this song, is the vocalist’s romantic interest. And as far as the thesis sentiment of this piece, it would be that the vocalist does in fact love her.
But at the same time he acknowledges, in a poetically roundabout way, that he isn’t necessarily the perfect partner. Or let’s rather say that he would do “almost anything” for her – that is anything within reason. Or viewed from an alternative standpoint, if the situation called for it, he would overextend himself in the name of proving his affection. But since it isn’t, he wants to assure Didi that he cares for her nonetheless.
Or let’s look at like this – every woman, ideologically speaking, may want a knight in shining armor who is willing to slay a dragon for her. But in this case, there is no dragon to slay. And instead, Didi reads like a girl from around the way whom the vocalist, most basely put, really enjoys bonking.
So all in all, perhaps this can be best classified as a casual love song. In other words, this vocalist is not the type to put himself out there by making all types of whimsical, fantastical promises that at the end the day he can’t or would be impossible to keep. But that noted, he is very much willing to go all out and do “whatever Didi wants” within reason and his resources.

NOFX and “Whatever Didi Wants”
NOFX is a band from L.A. that has actually been around since the early 1980s and had released their first album, “Liberal Animation”, in 1988. The band experienced their most notable chart success during the aughts, where they dropped a number of albums which scored within the top 10 of Billboard’s Indie Albums chart, including 2003’s “The War or Errorism”, which topped said list.
And this track is actually from their sixth studio album, “Heavy Petting Zoo” (which is also known in some circles as “Eating Lamb”). And said project was made public by Epitaph Records on the date of 31 January 1996.
NOFX is fronted by a musician named Fat Mike, who accordingly served as the vocalist of “Whatever Didi Wants” and also wrote the song. And the entire NOFX crew is credited with producing the track, alongside Ryan Greene.
