Why did Peter Gabriel leave Genesis? The Real Reason Peter Left Genesis
Oh, the age-old question of band breakups! So, Peter Gabriel co-founded Genesis in 1967, and they quickly became one of the leading bands in the progressive rock movement. However, by 1975, Gabriel felt the need to spread his wings and fly solo. There were a few reasons for this.
Firstly, during the band’s ambitious concept album “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway”, there were some creative differences. Gabriel was deeply involved in the storytelling aspect of the album, and this sometimes led to tensions. Secondly, and more personally, Gabriel wanted to spend more time with his family, especially after the difficult birth of his first child. So, combining personal reasons with the creative strains, Peter decided to part ways with Genesis and embark on his own journey. And what a journey it’s been!
