“Forever’s Not Enough” by McFly
By the looks of things, the logical assumption would be that the addressee of “Forever’s Not Enough” is the vocalist’s significant other. And as such stories tend to go, there was a time when the two of them were inseparably close.
But since then, as Fletcher puts it, they “nearly lost each other, running around the world, following different dreams”. The pre-chorus also goes on to imply that there’s some type of beef keeping them apart.
But apparently, as indicated in the second verse, the pair have maintained a relationship throughout, even if such interactions have been reduced to “a second on a lonely screen”, i.e. brief chats over the internet or what have you.
But as far as the title goes, what it points to is what can be taken as the track’s thesis sentiment. And that would be, comprehensively explained, Tom also coming to realize throughout this time that the addressee is the one. So he wants another shot at a full-fledged romance with her, apparently being confident this time that they will indeed remain together.
