Who is Shardai?

“Shardai” marks the final track on Lil Uzi Vert’s eagerly Pink Tape album. This track was actually a bonus Uzi and his team added as an extra to the main album. Throughout the song, we find Uzi exploring their passionate emotions for a woman named Shardai.

Owing to this, it is beyond obvious that the name Shardai belongs to a woman or girl. But who really is Shardai?

At first, the name struck me as reminiscent of an anime character, sparking a sense of familiarity and curiosity. I embarked on a search, diving into various sources and platforms in hopes of uncovering a connection or reference to an anime character with that particular name. However, despite my thorough exploration and inquiries across multiple anime databases and fan forums, I was unable to find a definitive answer or any link that could validate my initial assumption.

I did further research and came across an article on Genius. According to the said article, this name translates to something precious from God. Put simply, a “gift from God”.

Not satisfied with this, I delved even deeper and realize that the name Shardai actually originates from the Yoruba culture in Nigeria. In this culture, Shardai is actually a female’s name. When translated from the Yoruba language to English, it means “honor bestows a crown”.

So it is possible that the woman Uzi is addressing in his song might be Nigerian or of Nigerian heritage.
